Junior Travel Ambassadors & Road Safety
Safety on the roads around school continues to be a focus for us.
After a difficult selection process, we are pleased to announce that Will, Aniyah, Violeta and Manisha from year 5 will be undertaking the new role of Junior Travel Ambassadors for the school.
We are one of just 2 schools in St Albans working with Herts County Council to roll out this scheme which has been very successful in other Counties.
The children had their first meeting this week with the County representative and Louise Larkins, one of our governors who is supporting this initiative, to look at their priorities. The meeting went really well and the adults were very impressed by the enthusiasm and ideas from our JTAs. One of their first roles will be to support the recruitment of a school crossing patrol and then to encourage participation in Walk to School Week.
We now have agreement from the County Council that the Lollipop crossing patrol role can be shared between 5 people who would then only have to commit to carrying out the role one day per week. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining the rota, so that this essential role can be reintroduced, then please contact the school office as soon as possible.
