GOVERNORS
ABOUT THE GOVERNING BOARD
The Camp School Governing Board has three core functions in relation to the school:
- ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
- overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
To fulfil these roles the Governing Board meets as a whole, as part of designated sub-committees and with school staff on a regular basis. Currently the governing body is constituted of the Head Teacher, one member of staff, four parent governors, four co-opted governors, one local authority governor and one Associate Member, the Assistant Head. The standard term for all Governing Board members is 4 years. Parent Governors are elected through a ballot by other parents and carers of children at the school

PARENT GOVERNOR ELECTIONS
Each parent may vote once in an election, regardless of how many of their children attend Camp Primary & Nursery School. For the purpose of the election of a parent governor, a parent is:
- someone who has parental responsibility*
or - someone who is significantly involved in the full-time care of the child on a settled basis (but does not have “parental responsibility”)
*A person has ‘parental responsibility’ if
- they are the child’s natural mother;
or
- they are the child’s natural father and
- either was married to the mother on the day of the child’s birth or subsequently
- or has entered into a legal parental responsibility agreement with the mother
- or has been granted a residence order from the court directing the child will live with them
- or registered or re-registered the child’s birth after 1 December 2003
or
- the child lives with that person as the result of a court order.
